Property valuation for a bank loan in Uganda
A valuation for secured lending, prepared by a registered valuation surveyor.
When you borrow against land or a building, the lender needs an independent opinion of what the security is worth. That opinion comes from a valuation surveyor the bank accepts, usually one on its panel of approved valuers.
The report tells the bank what the property would fetch on the open market, and what it could realise if it ever had to sell quickly. It also confirms the property exists as the title describes it.
How we handle it
- 1Tell us which bank or lender asked for it. We're retained by Centenary Bank, KCB Bank and FINCA.
- 2We inspect the property and check the title.
- 3The report goes to you and your lender in the format they require.
Worth knowing
- Check the valuer is on your bank's panel
- A report from a valuer your lender doesn't accept will usually have to be redone. Tell us which bank it's for before any work starts and we'll confirm.
- The title and the site must match
- The valuer inspects the property and checks it against the title. Differences in size, location or ownership can hold up the loan, so it helps to raise anything you already know about.
- Buildings need their plans
- Approved building plans let the valuer confirm what was built and whether it was approved. Bring them if the property has buildings on it.
This guide explains how the process generally works. Every piece of land is different, so talk to us about yours before you act on it. More on our property, plant & equipment valuation work.

Common questions
Will my bank accept your valuation report?

What do I need for a valuation?
A copy of the land title, the owner's contact, directions to the property, and approved building plans if there are buildings. If a bank asked for the valuation, bring its instruction letter too.
